Samuel is a man from Kenya. He lives with his grandson. Samuel does not have clear hearing, and his hearing has been deteriorating for the past four years. He was seen by an audiologist and had hearing aids recommended. Fortunately, he is now scheduled for receive them on February 5. Now he needs help raising $929. Samuel says, “My prayer is to get the hearing aids. I rely on gestures to communicate even in church and it bothers me a lot."

Sophorn is a cleaning lady from Cambodia. She has three brothers and three sisters. She likes to garden in her free time and listen to the radio. Four years ago, Sophorn had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Sophorn experiences ear discharge, tinnitus, and hearing loss. She cannot communicate easily with others. Sophorn traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On November 8, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I hope my hearing improves after the operation so I can return home and to work."

Firomsa is a toddler from Ethiopia. He loves to play and laugh with toys. His parents are traditional farmers. Firomsa was born with an anorectal malformation, a congenital abnormality that leads to a complete or partial intestinal blockage. He needs to undergo a series of procedures to eliminate bowel dysfunction. Firomsa is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct his condition on November 29. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Firomsa's procedure and care. After his recovery, Firomsa will no longer experience bowel dysfunction or be at risk of developing health complications in the future. His mother says, “We wanted to pay for his care but we are not able to do it.”

Chan is a tailor from Cambodia. She has three brothers and five sisters. She likes watching TV and listening to music. Two years ago, Chan had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her right ear to perforate. For this reason, Chan experiences ear discharge, hearing loss, and tinnitus. She cannot hear well and is in pain. Chan traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On October 18, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I hope my hearing improves and the ear pain goes away."

Ann is a young girl from Kenya. She is the youngest of two children. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy after birth. She also has clubfoot of her right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Ann traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on October 3. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,224 to fund Ann's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to walk easily. "If you can help my granddaughter undergo for surgery, I will be very grateful and I will praise God for the help,” Ann’s grandmother says.

Saw Htee is 45-year-old husband and father from Burma. He is a semi-subsistence farmer, who sells his crop of beans once a year for income. On August 26, 2018, Saw Htee and two of his son-in-laws were cutting wood in the jungle. All of a sudden, a thigh-sized tree, which Saw Kleet was cutting, fell on him. Trying to dodge the tree, his right leg slid between two rocks, and he fractured his lower right leg. Currently, Saw Htee has pain in his lower right leg and back. He cannot sit down or move. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Saw Htee will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for August 27 and will cost $1,500. As the main breadwinner for his family, Saw Htee will return to work on their farm. "I feel very worried now," says Saw Htee's wife. "Now I don’t have anyone to look after our bean farm. However, I'm a bit relieved that your organization is providing support for his treatment."

Leng is a man from Cambodia. He has a son, three daughters, and six grandchildren. He likes to do housework in his free time. A month and a half ago, Leng was in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in neurolysis of the tibial nerve of his left leg. He is in chronic pain and cannot walk. Leng needs to undergo a nerve procedure to get rid of the pain and allow him to walk again. Surgery is scheduled for July 17 and will cost $497. He says, "I hope after the operation I am better and can walk without pain."

Than is a 25-year-old young man from Burma. He lives with his wife, five-year-old daughter, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and two brother-in-laws. In May 2018, Than participated in a soccer tournament. During one game, another player kicked his right leg. He immediately felt a lot of pain in his leg, the leg went limp, and he was unable to walk. A friend took him to a traditional healer in the village. The healer rubbed oil on his leg and bandaged his leg up. Currently, Than feels a lot of pain in his leg and uses crutches to get around. With the help of our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Than will undergo surgery to reset his fractured bones and ensure proper healing. The procedure is scheduled for June 28 and will cost $1,500. After surgery, Than hopes that he will be free from pain and he will be able to walk properly again. He says, “I want to get better soon so that I can help my family and get back to working.”

Kar is an eight-month-old boy. He lives with his family in Hpa-an, Karen State, Burma. When Kar was three months old, his parents noticed for the first time that his head size was increasing. Kar was recently diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which has caused fluid to build up in his brain. Without immediate surgery to alleviate the intracranial pressure that the excess fluid is causing, he is at risk of developing severe, potentially fatal medical complications. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund the insertion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt for Kar, which will drain the fluid that has accumulated in his brain. The procedure is scheduled to take place on May 23, and, once completed, will greatly improve Kar's quality of life. His mother says, "I really want my son to look like other normal kids. So I believe that this surgery will make him look better."

Thu Rain is two-year-old boy from Burma. He lives with his parents. His father works as an agricultural day laborer and is the only breadwinner for their family. When Thu Rain was born, his mother noticed a lump on the back of his head, which continued to increase in size over time. After they sought treatment at Mae Tao Clinic, where they were referred to our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, Thu Rain underwent surgery to remove the mass. A year later, he now requires an MRI during his follow-up. Doctors want Thu Rain to undergo an MRI, an imaging procedure that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce images of bodily organs. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose his condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $968 to cover the cost of Thu Rain's MRI and care, scheduled for April 24. "We are so happy and thankful he received treatment," said Thu Rain's parents.

Marie is a young woman from Haiti. She lives with her mother, stepfather, and brother in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. Although she previously attended university, she has not been studying for the past several years due to her heart problem. Marie has a cardiac condition called rheumatic mitral stenosis. As a teenager, Marie suffered a rheumatic fever, which severely damaged one of the valves of her heart. As a result, blood can no longer flow through it, leaving her sickly and short of breath. Marie will fly to the United States to receive treatment. On March 28, she will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will attempt to repair her native valve during an open-heart procedure if possible. Otherwise, they will replace it with a mechanical valve. Another organization, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, is contributing $60,000 to pay for surgery. Marie's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Marie's family overseas. She says, "I am excited to get back to a normal life after my valve surgery!"

Roobens is a boy from Haiti. Roobens lives on a farm in central Haiti with his grandmother and cousins. His parents both work in the city but spend the weekends with him. He is in the first grade, and he likes to play with cars and superhero toys. Roobens has a cardiac condition called called double outlet right ventricle, in which the aorta connects to the lower right chamber of the heart instead of the lower left chamber, as is normally the case. This causes blood to bypass the lungs without obtaining oxygen, leaving him sick and short of breath. Roobens will fly to Toronto to receive treatment. On March 13, he will undergo cardiac surgery. Another organization, The Herbie Fund, is contributing $60,000 to pay for surgery. Roobens's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Roobens's family overseas. His father says, "There are no words to express how grateful we are for everyone's help in getting Roobens his surgery."
