Saim is a 64-year-old farmer from Cambodia. She has seven children and five grandchildren. Her husband passed away sixteen years ago, so now she lives and farms with one of her sons. When she has free time she likes to listens to monks pray on the radio or visit the pagoda.
Two years ago, Saim developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurred vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Saim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two-and-a-half hours by taxi seeking treatment. On June 9th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Saim said, "I hope after surgery I can see everything clear again so that I can do my housework and take care my grandchildren. My family needs me to be able to do these things so I want to get better soon."
