Say “hello” to Maureen from Kenya! Maureen is a hard-working 24-year-old woman and a proud mother of one who works as a laborer. Maureen proudly describes how her “husband is a small-scale farmer. He grows cash crops and at times joins me in doing casual labor so that we can fulfill our children’s basic needs." Maureen and her husband are happily expecting their second child. However, Maureen is exhausted and experiences severe discomfort as a result of her pregnancy, which has inhibited her ability to work. She is still working hard to provide food for her family and to contribute to paying school fees, but she cannot afford the medical attention she will need to safely deliver her second child. For $215, our medical partners will provide Maureen with the opportunity to deliver her child in a health facility under the care of skilled clinicians. Ansley is an intelligent 14-year-old boy living in Haiti. Ansley’s mother is a primary school teacher and his father is a small farmer, both working hard to provide for Ansley and his siblings. Ansley loves school but had to put his schooling on hold after he lost the function of his right hand and leg, leaving him unable to walk and lift his hand. His mother took him to the doctors and the result of a CT scan revealed Ansley has a brain tumor. Ansley is now also losing his ability to talk and see well. Let’s raise $1500 for Ansley to travel to the Dominican Republic and receive the four-week radiation therapy.
