Say hello to Derrick, a three-year-old boy from Uganda. Derrick is a typical little boy that loves to build small houses, dig holes, and play. His four older siblings watch out for him and love to have him around when they play because he is so full of life. He will attend school next year with his brothers and sisters and is very excited to start learning.
Derrick currently has pneumonia and needs our help! He has a severe cough, fever, and chest pain. His life is threatened and would be plagued with long term lung damage and infections without treatment.
Derrick’s parents, who are farmers, are working hard to chip in for the co-pay of $0.76 for the treatment that their little boy needs right now. $90 will cover the rest of the expense of Derrick’s pneumonia treatment. Watsi’s medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, tells us that after treatment, “Derrick will no longer have pneumonia and the harmful side effects that come along with it. His life will be saved and he will be able to play with his brothers and sisters… Most of all, he will be able to grow into a young boy and attend school, furthering his knowledge.”
