Leang is a vegetable farmer from Cambodia. She is single and has one brother and four sisters. She likes to watch the news and Khmer films and go to the local pagoda. Two months ago, Leang developed a cataract in each eye, causing her partial blindness, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Leang learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On April 24, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. She says, "I hope I can see everything clearly so I can learn about Buddha and go anywhere by myself."

Peter is a casual laborer from Kenya. He is a father of three children, who are in high school. Peter’s wife is a housewife. Since 2004, Peter has had a cataract in his left eye, causing him loss of vision. A cataract occurs when the lens of the eye becomes opaque, blurring vision. He has been forced to adapt to using only one eye. Fortunately, Peter is scheduled to undergo cataract surgery at our medical partner's care center. Surgeons will remove and replace the blurred lens. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $220 procedure. Peter says, “My hope is to be a more providing father to my children and wife."
