Meet Pork, a 21-year-old-man in Cambodia who enjoys dancing with friends and family to Khmer pop songs.
"Pork has a defect in his skull that causes brain tissue to push through his cranium and bulge at the bridge of his nose," says our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). As a result, "he constantly has headaches and seizures, and needs his family to support him."
Pork lives alone, but his family is constantly at his house or he is at his parents' house, because of his condition. Given Pork’s family cannot afford to travel outside of their province, he has never received treatment. However recently, a health outreach worker found Pork and according to CSC, “paid for him to take a four hour journey to Children's Surgical Centre."
$390 will fund the bone graft necessary to correct the defect in Pork's skull. CSC tells us, "this will hopefully put a stop to his seizures and headaches.” Let’s get Pork the healthcare he needs and help him have the ability to be more independent.
