Saw Zaw is 39-years-old. He was recently diagnosed with several kidney and urological problems; he has multiple stones blocking his bile ducts and a benign tumor causing dizziness, fatigue, jaundice, and fever. He's unable to work because of the condition. Saw Zaw first noticed his health problem seven years ago, while he was living in Burma. He and his wife are both school teachers, but after spending their savings on medical bills and taking out risky loans, they ultimately lost their home. They now live in a refugee camp near the Thai-Burma border where our medical partner works. For $1,000, we can help Saw Zaw receive treatment to permanently resolve his condition and enable him to work, take care of his family, pay back his loans, and get his life back.

Samnang is ten years old and lives in Cambodia with her mother and younger brother. She helps take care of her younger brother at home, but more than anything Samnang enjoys going to school. For years Samnang has had difficulty swallowing, making eating and drinking painful for her. She also has trouble breathing, especially at night, leaving her fatigued. A trip to the doctor revealed Samnang's tonsils are growing and if not stopped, could reach a dangerous size. If untreated breathing difficulties will become much more severe for Samnang. For $225 Samnang can have her tonsils removed. The procedure will elimnate pain and allow Samnang to get a full night's rest so she can happily return to focusing on 5th grade.

Samjhana hopes to one day become a teacher and help her community, a mountainous area in Nepal where the average person lives on less than $1 a day. She loves studying science, running, and playing volleyball, and like most teenaged girls, just wants to fit in. Last year, Samjhana began experiencing severe abdominal pain. Her mother was extremely worried. She was unable to stop crying when she brought her to Nyaya Health’s facility for help. When doctors at Nyaya examined Samjhana, they discovered that she has an anatomical genital deformity that, if left uncorrected, will threaten her reproductive health for the rest of her life. This is a serious condition that can be treated with surgery, but Samjhana’s family is nowhere near able to pay for the kind of specialized care she needs. With treatment, Samjhana’s doctors are confident that she will be able to live a normal, healthy life. We need to raise $1245 to cover the cost of Samjhana’s surgery, medication, and travel.
