Yeat is a 65-year-old grandmother of ten from Cambodia. She has four daughters, one son, and enjoys visiting the pagoda in her spare time. Three months ago, Yeat developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, irritation, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Yeat learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On August 6, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that I will be able to see more clearly than before, and return to the pagoda and attend the ceremonies."

Yum is a 67-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has five children, eleven grandchildren, and enjoys listening to the radio and going to the pagoda in her free time. Two and a half years ago, Yum developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Yum learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 15, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that after my surgery, I will be able to see clearly again and can help look after my grandchildren."

Sok Ra is a 14-year-old girl from Cambodia. She has one younger brother, and likes to listen to music in her free time. Since she was born, Sok Ra developed a cataract in each eye, causing her complete blindness. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Sok Ra learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 9, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. She says, "I hope that after my surgery, I will be able to see clearly and be able to attend school."

Joshua is a student from Tanzania. He loves going to school to make new friends and learn. Joshua was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility. Fortunately, Joshua is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on April 9. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $986 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Joshua’s mother says, “I was scared that it is too late for my son to get any treatment since I could not afford to pay for his treatment sooner. Please help my son get the help that he needs so that he can be well.”

Kobilo is a farmer from Kenya. She has five children. As a farmer, she plants millet and sorghum for her family’s consumption. This month, Kobilo was involved in a road traffic accident while she was crossing the road. She lost consciousness for hours, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Kobilo sustained a severe tibia fibula fracture. She is now unable to walk or stand using her right leg. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On January 23, Kobilo will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help her walk easily again. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $968 to fund this procedure. Kobilo says, “I want to be able to walk, sit, and even feed by myself like any other person.”
