Meet Eyuccabeth, a 17-year-old girl living in Kenya. Eyuccabeth is the fourth child in her family. Her father died 10 years ago and her mother works temporary jobs in order to take care of the family.
"I want to work hard and be able to take care of my mother just like she has taken care of us," says Eyuccabeth.
Our medical partner describes Eyuccabeth as a happy, kind-hearted and joyous girl. Unfortunately, she has chronic osteomyelitis, a bone infection, in her right leg. This condition causes her leg to swell and if she doesn't receive surgery, her leg may need to be amputated.
For $1,200, we can help Eyuccabeth receive a sequestrectomy, a separation of dead bone from healthy bone, which will allow her to walk normally again. With this surgery, Eyuccabeth will be able to live an active life and help support her family like she wants to.
