Justice is an eight-year-old boy from Uganda who needs $375 to treat malnutrition. Due to his condition, his face and extremities are swollen and his hair is fading. He often has diarrhea and feels lethargic. Concerned that Justice doesn't have energy like other children his age, his parents Rachel and Aggrey traveled 45 kilometers to get him treatment. Justice is the oldest of three children. When he has enough strength, he enjoys playing soccer, making toy cars, and helping his mother fetch water for their farms. With treatment, which will cost $375, Justice's doctors anticipate he will make a full recovery from malnutrition and develop normally. "Thank you to everyone for helping my son," Justice's mother says. "I'm looking forward to learning more about his nutrition."

“Thank you in advance for your help,” says Kamusiime, a 20-year-old woman from Uganda. After noticing a swelling on her abdomen about two years ago, Kamusiime began to experience severe pain, especially upon lifting heavy objects. She visited a local hospital where she was diagnosed with an umbilical hernia—a condition in which the intestine protrudes through the abdominal muscles at the belly button. Kamusiime is a stay-at-home mother of one and loves playing with little children. Her husband is a part-time nursery school teacher and earns a small income—one that Kamusiime would love to supplement with work on their small plot of land, if it weren't for her medical condition. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), adds, "The piece of land is very small" and is really only large enough to produce food for home consumption. Once diagnosed, surgery was advised but “Kamusiime went to the hospital and was unable to pay for the surgery,” reports AMHF. If she goes untreated for much longer, Kamusiime will be at risk of hernia strangulation and intestinal obstruction. For $220, Kamusiime will receive a hernia repair—an operation that will push the bulge back into place and make her abdominal wall stronger. AMHF predicts that after surgery, “Kamusiime will no longer be experiencing the pain...and she will be able to continue farming and take care of her family.” "I am worried about my wife's health,” shares Kamusiime’s husband. “Thank you for offering to help us. God bless you!”

Justine is a 30-year-old woman from Uganda. She and her husband are farmers who grow crops to feed their family and to sell at the local market. They are currently expecting their fifth child. Our medical partner, the Kellermann Foundation, tells us, “Justine has had two previous C-sections and will need a C-section with this child. Without a C-section, she could suffer obstructed labor and tear the previous scars.” For $303, Justine will receive three prenatal care visits, an ultrasound, a C-section to minimize risk to the baby during delivery, and a five-day stay in the hospital to recover after surgery. Our medical partner expects both Justine and her baby to have a healthy delivery and recovery. The Kellermann Foundation shares, “Justine thanks everyone supporting her with hospital fees and has nothing to offer back but prayers for them.”

“Gloria’s condition is causing her a lot of discomfort and stigma in our village. I pray that she will find treatment as soon as possible,” Gloria’s aunt tells us. Gloria is a two-year-old from Kenya. She has been diagnosed with anorectal malformation, meaning that she is unable to pass stool normally. According to our medical partner, the African Mission Healthcare Foundation, “Gloria has frequent constipation coupled with discomfort, due to abdominal distention.” Gloria’s mother died last year and her father cannot afford the 3-stage surgery necessary to fix Gloria’s condition. If left untreated, she is at risk for infection and possible perforation of the bowel. For $1,500, we can provide the support that Gloria needs.
