Tim is a loving father to his four children and a wonderful grandfather to his seven grandchildren. He enjoys listening to the news on the radio, watching TV, and feeding ducks and chickens on his farm. Tim, who is 62-years-old and from Cambodia, has had blurred vision “for five years because of the mature cataract in his right eye,” explains our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). “This makes it hard for him to work on the farm, tend to the animals – and even walk on his own.” For $150, Tim’s doctors can provide cataract surgery that will improve his eyesight and prevent future blindness. Vin is a rambunctious 12-year-old boy who loves playing sports. His favorites are soccer and volleyball. Sometimes, getting roughed up comes as part of the territory when you’re a young, active boy. In April of this year, Vin fell off his bicycle and broke his elbow. He was treated by a traditional healer in his village, but the fracture did not heal properly. Since then, Vin has been having trouble writing and playing his beloved sports because of the pain in his arm. Vin and his mom traveled three hours to seek treatment at Children’s Surgical Centre and the staff there are ready to help.
