Sot is an 82-year-old grandfather from Cambodia. He has four daughters, fifteen grandchildren, and he enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in his free time. One year ago, Sot developed a cataract in each eye, causing him blurry vision and irritation. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Sot learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 1, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $398 procedure. His daughter says, "I hope that after his operation, my father will be able to see clearly again and can go anywhere he wants to independently."

Telesa is a mother of three from Malawi. She lives with her husband and works on the family farm. She enjoys chatting with her four grandchildren in her free time. Since February 2019, Telesa has been experiencing abdominal pain and extensive bleeding, causing severe anemia. She has been diagnosed with unspecified vaginal bleeding. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Telesa's surgery. On March 28, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. She and her family have accepted the need for surgery to remove the disease. They are so happy to know that she will soon be feeling better after this procedure. She says, "I look forward to being strong and able to do my work at home, on the farm, and around the house for my family. This program is helping very much to remove the disease."

Fridah is a young woman from Kenya. She is the eldest of three children. Fridah has clubfoot of her right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Fridah traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on January 28. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,224 to fund Fridah's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be ale to walk easily. Fridah says, “I am praying to God that I can undergo surgery and resume my normal life and studies without pain.”

Mutegeki is a mechanic from Uganda. He is the fourth of ten children. Mutegeki has been diagnosed with a hernia. This hernia causes him pain and discomfort and if not treated, it may result in intestinal tissue death or damage. Fortunately, on January 22, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Mutegeki's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, “I like watching movies during my free time.”

Sy is a rice farmer from Cambodia. He lives with his grandmother. He likes to play football and watch TV in his free time. Nine months ago, he was in a motor vehicle accident that caused paralysis of his left arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to use his arm below his elbow and he cannot work. Sy traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On December 11, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he will be able to use his arm again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $637 to fund this procedure. He says, "After the operation I hope I can use my arm and hand normally and I can return to work."

Sy is a farmer from Cambodia. He has three daughters, three sons, and ten grandchildren. He likes to watch TV in his free time. Sey is a factory worker from Cambodia. She has two brothers and three sisters. She enjoys watching Thai films and spending time with her friends. A year ago, Sey developed a pterygium in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, irritation, itching, and photophobia. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the conjunctiva, a mucous layer that lubricates the eye. The growths occur when the conjunctiva is exposed to excessive sun damage and the cells grow abnormally over the pupil. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, working, and going anywhere outside. When Sey learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. Sey needs a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal conjunctiva from the cornea surface and replace it with a conjunctival graft to prevent recurrence. The total cost of her procedure is $201. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. The procedure is scheduled for October 2. She says, "I hope I have no more pterygium problems so I can continue my work as a factory worker and I can go to the farm easily by myself."

Yna is a young girl from Cambodia. She has a brother and four sisters. She likes learning the Khmer language and hopes to be a teacher someday. Ten years ago, Yna had an ear infection. This infection caused a cholesteatoma, or an abnormal skin growth, to develop in the middle ear behind the ear drum. For this reason, Yna experiences pain and tinnitus. It is difficult for her to hear and she has ear pain. Yna traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 7, she will undergo a mastoidectomy procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, ENT surgeons will remove the cholesteatoma. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $842 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Her mother says, "I worry about my daughter's ear problem and hope the surgery will be good."

Ohn is a 36-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her husband and four children. Diagnosed with gallstones, Ohn cannot lift anything heavy because doing so causes a painful pressure in her abdomen. Often, she has a hard time standing up, and she can hardly walk. Ohn has been advised to undergo a biliary obstruction repair, a procedure to repair the blockage of the bile ducts, which carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder. If left untreated, Ohn's symptoms will continue to worsen and put him at risk for further health complications in the future. After seeking treatment through our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund (BCMF), Ohn is scheduled to undergo her biliary obstruction repair on June 11. BCMF is requesting $1,500 to cover the total cost of Ohn's procedure and care. Her husband says, “My wife is now feeling disheartened as she is in poor health and has to live far from her family members...If she is fully recovered, I will be extremely happy.”

Narong is a third grader from Cambodia. He has two brothers and a sister. He likes studying math and human anatomy. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He likes to play football and watch movies with his friends. A year ago, he was hit by a motorcycle while playing on the side of the road, and his left tibia was fractured. He went to an emergency clinic, where doctors fixated hardware to heal his fracture. Now, the hardware is causing him pain and is making it difficult for him to walk. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On May 1, Narong will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $214. This procedure will help him walk easily again. He says, "I hope I can return to school soon after my surgery and see my friends."

Faines is a mother of five from Malawi. She lives with her husband and children, and they run a small farm. Faines spends her days caring for her home and family, and in her free time she likes to attend church with her husband and children. Since October 2017, Faines has been experiencing pain and abnormal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Faines's surgery. On April 5, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. Faines and her family were thrilled to find out her surgery would be funded. She says, "Thank you so much."

Kwikiriza is a farmer from Uganda. He is married and a father of six: three girls and three boys. Five of his children are in primary school. Kwikiriza and his wife are small-scale farmers. For ten years, Kwikiriza has had a left direct reducible inguinal hernia. The hernia causes him pain. If not treated, he may suffer tissue twisting and blocking. Fortunately, on February 8, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Kwikiriza's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. He says, "After surgery I will go for a thanks giving mass in church.’’
