Andjul was born with a cardiac condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, which involves several related defects including a hole between two chambers of the heart, and a muscular blockage of one of the valves leading to his lungs. As a result of this condition, oxygen cannot adequately flow through his body, leaving him sickly and weak.
Andjul lives in a town called Arcahaie in central Haiti with his mother, father, and grandparents; he is their first child. His parents are both currently seeking employment. He is a friendly child who likes helping his mother at home and listening to music.
$1,500 in Watsi funding, and an additional $10,000 subsidy from Have a Heart Cayman Islands, will fund the life-saving heart surgery that Andjul needs to grow up healthy.
"We were very excited to get the news that Andjul could travel to have surgery," his mother shared. "We are praying that all will go well."
