Paul joined Watsi on November 9th, 2018. 10 other people also joined Watsi on that day! Paul's most recent donation supported Kato, a boy from Uganda, to fund hydrocele repair surgery.
Paul has funded healthcare for 2 patients in 2 countries.
Kato is a student from Uganda. He is the first of three children in his family. For four months, Kato has had a hydrocele, which is a swelling in a sensitive area. This hydrocele causes him swelling and discomfort. Fortunately, on January 22, he will undergo hydrocele repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $185 to fund Kato's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. His mother says, “After surgery my son will have peace and resume with education.”
Nathan is a student from Haiti. He lives with his parents and two older sisters in Port-au-Prince. He has just started kindergarten. Nathan has a cardiac condition called patent ductus arteriosus. A hole exists between two major blood vessels near the heart. Blood leaks through this hole, leaving him short of breath and causing heart failure. On October 7, he will undergo cardiac surgery at St. Damien Hospital, our medical partner's care center. During surgery, surgeons will tie off the hole so that blood can no longer leak through it. Another organization, Gift of Life International, is contributing $5,000 to pay for surgery. Nathan's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 requested by our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, covers cardiac exams and medications. His mother says, "I am looking forward to letting my son play outside without worrying about him!"
