Chanthorn is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has one daughter and one son. She likes to listen to the radio and spend time with her family. Ten years ago, Chanthorn had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Chanthorn experiences pain and tinnitus. She cannot hear well and is in chronic pain. Chanthorn traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On July 6, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. Her sister says, "I hope my sister's ear problems are gone after surgery. We look forward to bringing her home with improved hearing."

Khen is a farmer from Cambodia. She has three sons, four daughters, and 20 grandchildren. She likes to go to the local pagoda. Two years ago, Khen developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Khen learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 10, doctors will perform am extra-capsular cataract extraction and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. She says, "I want to see my grandchildren's faces and go outside to the pagoda."

Henry is a fifth grade student from Kenya. When Henry was eight years old, his mother went to Saudi Arabia and did not return. He has been living with his grandmother, who operates a small pub. He aspires to be an engineer. Henry was born with hypospadias, a congenital abnormality that causes urinary dysfunction. Without treatment, he will continue to experience uncomfortable symptoms and will be at risk of infertility. Fortunately, Henry is scheduled to undergo corrective surgery on July 6. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $700 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. “I want to be an engineer when I grow up,” he says.

Sonita is a fourth grader from Cambodia. She has two sisters and one brother. She loves to watch cartoons, read textbooks, and play games on her phone. In April 2018, Sonita fell off her bicycle and fractured her left elbow. She is in chronic pain, and she has difficulty using her left elbow. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On July 10, Sonita will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $430. This procedure will help her regain mobility in her arm and elbow. She says, "I hope my arm doesn't hurt after surgery and I can return to school."
