Rejina is six years old, and lives with her family in Nepal. She is in the first grade and enjoys reading stories and poems. Rejina recently broke her arm while playing with friends. Our medical partner, Possible, shares: “Rejina was playing on a rope swing when it broke and she landed on her right arm; it has been hurting since then. Not only did she miss her school to come to the hospital but she also needs help with her every day work like eating and dressing up.” Rejina needs to be treated soon in order to prevent long-term complications of the fracture. If left untreated, the fractured bone could lead to permanent immobility or infection. Rejina's family family cannot afford the $579 treatment she needs, which includes surgery and casting. This is Vin! Vin is a 30-year-old husband, and father of two little boys, living in Cambodia. “Vin was going to visit his mother when he got in a moto accident that caused him to break his right arm. He now can't use his right hand to do anything,” writes our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). CSC continues, “Vin is sad because he cannot do many things with his sons and he can't work to support them, so his wife must work much harder to provide for their family. He hopes that after his operation he will have much more function and no pain in his arm so he can go back to work." With $405, CSC will be able to provide the treatment Vin needs to heal his fracture. He will regain the use of his right arm and no longer experience pain from the break.
