Philip is a five-year-old boy living in Cambodia with his family, which includes an older sister and a younger brother. His mother is a homemaker, while his father is a sculptor. Currently, Philip is in kindergarten, and his mother shares that he aspires to become a police officer in the future. Philip was brought to our medical partner's care center experiencing challenges with his legs and having learning difficulties. The surgeons identified that he has achondroplasia, a condition that affects his growth and leads to differences in his bone structure, including increasingly bowed legs. These leg issues make it hard for Philip to walk comfortably and cause him discomfort. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), can help. On August 27th, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform a procedure that aims to correct the alignment of his bowed legs, and improve his ability to walk. Philip's family is seeking assistance to fund the $521 procedure and post-op care. Philip's mother says, "I hope this procedure will help Philip walk more comfortably, allowing him to make his way to school and around the village with greater ease."

Kishumui is a spirited three-year-old boy from Longido, Tanzania, and the youngest of four siblings. Full of energy and sociable, he loves playing with other children. His parents are livestock keepers with limited income. In November 2022, an unfortunate fire accident changed Kishumui's life dramatically, resulting in severe burns on both of his legs. Although he eventually healed, he developed contractures in both feet, including disfigurement of his toes. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Kishumui receive treatment. On November 6th, surgeons at their care center will perform contracture release surgery and skin graft to help him walk easily again. Now, Kishumui's family needs help to fund this $832 procedure. Kishumui's mother says, "I understand that my son's feet may never be the same, but I hope he will still be able to walk and wear shoes like other children."

Chamnan is a 21-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has six siblings and lives with his parents in Kampong Speu province. His parents could not afford to educate all their children, so Chamnan left school after 6th grade, and stayed home to help his parents with their rice farm. In his free time, he likes to go to the coffee shop in his village with his friends. About a year ago, Chamnan underwent surgery to correct a birth condition in his right leg. His condition affects the growth of the long bones, specifically the femur. He wants to remove the hardware in his right leg due to chronic pain that occurs while working outside on the farm. On September 10th, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, will help Chamnan undergo surgery to remove the hardware that was previously placed. This procedure will help to relieve the pain and allow him to strengthen his leg. Chamnan's family is able to contribute $100 but needs help to raise $204 more to fund his procedure and treatment. Chamnan shared, "I want to remove the metal in my leg so I can walk well and help my parents work on the farm."
