Sokchea is a 55-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. Sokchea is married and has two daughters, one son, and two grandchildren. Her husband is also a rice farmer. Sokchea enjoys watching Thai and Khmer dramas on TV.
Five years ago, Sokchea developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sokchea learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours with her brother-in-law seeking treatment. On October 6th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Sokchea said, "After surgery I hope I can recognize faces well and be able to help take care of my grandchildren."
