Meet Naw Yin, a quiet and reserved 22-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her father, mother, older brother, two sisters, husband and baby girl. Her husband is training to be a medic.
Naw Yin has a mass on her ovary. She began experiencing painful symptoms a year ago, but because the pain wasn't consistent she didn't seek medical treatment. More recently, however, the pain has been very severe, including stomach and back pain which makes it difficult to walk or sit comfortably. Naw Yin has also been unable to pass stools or urine. She is quite feverish and feels dizzy and tired right now. In seeking care, Naw Yin has had to be away from her family and baby girl to seek treatment, something she is not very comfortable with. She will also need surgery to remove the mass, something which her family cannot afford.
“I really want to be healthy again, I want to be able to go back and help my family," Naw Yin says. "I miss my daughter and can't wait to see her after the surgery." With $860, we can get Naw Yin home and free of pain and discomfort.
