“I hope to see clearly so I can easily help prepare food for the monks and clean around the pagoda,” Mov shares.
Meet Mov, an 80-year-old nun from Cambodia. She enjoys cleaning the land around the pagoda, meditating, and reading Buddhist texts.
"Three years ago Mov developed a cataract in each eye," explains our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC). "This causes her blurred vision, tearing, irritation, and she is afraid of sunshine."
“I can’t do any work, walk anywhere, recognize anyone, or read letters anymore,” Mov says.
For $225, we can fund a simple surgery to fix Mov's eyesight. CSC says, “After a small incision cataract surgery and intraocular lens implant in each eye, Mov will be able to see clearly again.”
After her procedure, Mov says she hopes, "I can easily walk anywhere outside."
