“I barely earn enough to support my family. I thank God for Watsi and the work it is doing to help those who are in need like me,” says Stephen.
Meet Stephen, a 27-year-old father from Kenya who has a fractured jaw. “Stephen is married and a father of three young ones. He works as a night guard at a local school while his wife stays at home taking care of their children,” shares our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). Stephen’s jaw was broken when a robber assaulted him and stole his phone. “Because the incident occurred outside his place of employ, Stephen’s employer has refused to pay for his treatment,” relays AMHF.
“Stephen is not able to chew his meals nor speak well,” AMHF continues. “If the surgery is not done soon, the fracture could become infected which would lead to more complications in his treatment and recovery.”
For $660, we can fund surgery to heal Stephen’s fractured jaw and allow him to communicate and eat normally. “We expect that after the surgery, Stephen will be able to eat and speak well again,” AMHF concludes.
