Damaris is 17 months old and lives in a small village in central Bolivia with her mother, who currently cares for her full time. When Damaris was born, her mother noticed that she wasn't breathing well. She brought Damaris to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with ventricular septal defect. A hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart. Blood leaks through this hole instead of circulating normally, leaving Damaris weak and short of breath. Damaris also has Down syndrome. On September 23rd, Damaris will undergo cardiac surgery at our medical partner's care center, Hospital del Niño Dr. Ovidio Aliaga Uría. During surgery, surgeons will sew a patch over the hole in Damaris’s heart, so that blood will no longer leak through it. Damaris's family needs help to fund the costs of cardiac care and surgery. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover the cost of cardiac exams and diagnostics, surgical costs, follow-up care, and medications. Damaris's mother said, "We came from far away, and I am really grateful to have this opportunity so my daughter can have lifesaving surgery."

Deborah is a two-year-old baby girl from Haiti. Deborah is very cheerful and outgoing. She likes to play with her neighbors and sing. She lives in a city in northern Haiti with her parents and older brother. Deborah has a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect. A hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart; blood leaks through this hole without passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen, leaving her weak and short of breath. Deborah will fly to United States to receive treatment. On July 23rd, she will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will sew a patch over the hole so that blood can no longer leak through it. Another organization, HeartGift Foundation, is contributing $18,000 to pay for surgery. Deborah's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the family and travel costs for the social workers from our medical partner, who will accompany Deborah's family overseas. Deborah's mother says: "It's a miracle that our family has this chance for our daughter to have surgery. We are very thankful to everyone!"

Zoe is a seven-year-old student who lives in central Haiti with her parents and younger brother. Her mother supports the family as a vendor. Zoe is in the second grade and likes arts and crafts. Zoe was born with a cardiac condition called ventricular septal defect. A hole exists between the two lower chambers of her heart, causing blood to leak through the hole without passing through the lungs to obtain oxygen. This leaves her weak and short of breath and puts her at risk of heart failure in the future. Zoe needs to fly to the Dominican Republic to receive treatment. On June 24th, she will undergo heart surgery, during which surgeons will sew a patch over the hole in her heart so that blood can no longer leak through it. Another organization is paying for the surgery, but Zoe’s family also needs help with the costs of surgery prep. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to cover labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. It also supports securing travel documents for the family and travel costs for the social workers from our medical partner, who will accompany Zoe's family overseas. Zoe’s mother shares, “Our family is so happy that Zoe was finally chosen for surgery; we have been waiting since she was a very small child!”

Neema is a 12-year-old girl from Tanzania. She was brought to our center by her family after concerns were raised about the inward bending of both her feet. Neema has been living with clubfoot since she was a young child, a condition that has affected her ability to move comfortably and independently. Due to her physical challenges, Neema is currently not enrolled in school. Despite this, she is a joyful child who enjoys playing, jumping rope, and participating in games with other children at the care center. Her playful spirit and resilience shine through, even as she faces limitations that no child should have to endure. Neema’s family is deeply concerned about her future, particularly her mobility, independence, and access to education. Fortunately, Neema's family traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Surgeons plan to begin her clubfoot treatment on January 26th. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,171 to fund Neema's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to walk more comfortably, wear shoes with ease, and potentially return to school. Neema says, "I can't wait for the day when I'll be able to comfortably wear shoes on both my feet."

Gedeon is a 23-year-old college student from Haiti. He comes from a coastal city in southwest Haiti and is studying biology and science in the hope of one day becoming a cardiac echocardiographer. When Gedeon was younger, with help from the Watsi community, he underwent life-saving cardiac surgery in Texas to replace his damaged mitral valve. At the time, doctors knew his aortic valve was also damaged, but chose not to replace it due to the risk of the surgery. Now, Gedeon is ready to undergo a second surgery to replace his aortic valve. Gedeon has a cardiac condition called rheumatic aortic regurgitation. The valves of his heart were severely damaged by an infection he suffered in childhood, and now cannot adequately pump blood through his body. On May 21st, he will undergo cardiac surgery, during which surgeons will remove his damaged valve and implant an artificial replacement. Another organization, Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital, is contributing $25,000 to pay for the surgery. Gedeon's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep and follow up. Our medical partner, International Cardiac Alliance, is requesting $1,500 to support travel, labs, medicines, and check-up and follow-up appointments. Gedeon said, "I know God made a miracle for me to have my first surgery, and is making another miracle for me now!"

Aye is a six-year-old boy from Burma. He lives with his parents, who are small-scale farmers. They sell their extra vegetables and livestock for additional income every couple of months. Aye and his sister are both students in the village. In his free time, Aye plays games on his mother's phone and enjoys playing football with his friends. He dreams of becoming a professional footballer when he grows up, just like his idol Ronaldo. In 2024, Aye's mother noticed a small mass on the left side of his neck. Over the next four months, she watched it grow in size. Currently, the mass measures 15 cm and continues to grow despite previous treatment. Aye feels no pain and is not impaired in any way, but his mother is deeply worried about what it could be and anxious about the cost of his care. Fortunately, on April 22nd, our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, will help Aye undergo mass removal surgery. This procedure will cost $1,500, and Aye needs your support to fund the surgery. Aye's mother said, “I hope that once he recovers, I can send him back to school. I hope he becomes a teacher in the future since there is a shortage of teachers in our village. Thank you for your help.”

Roland is a 36-year-old father from the Philippines. He has been living with a fistula for about 15 years. Initially, his symptoms were sporadic and self-resolving. However, flare-ups have become frequent, occurring every two months for the past two years. These episodes cause pain, fatigue, and difficulty sitting, forcing Roland to adjust his daily routine. After Roland traveled to our medical partner's care center, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, surgery was recommended to relieve his symptoms. While this has brought Roland hope, the estimated cost remains beyond his financial capacity, leaving him reliant on antibiotics for temporary relief. Despite his condition, Roland continues to support his family by helping run their small clothing business and taking on electrical work on the side. His condition limits his ability to fully participate in work, leisure activities, and caring for his children. His family strongly believes surgery would restore his quality of life, reduce recurring medical expenses, and ease the financial strain. Fortunately, Roland is scheduled to receive surgery on March 20th at the World Surgical Foundation Philippines. Our medical partner, Our Lady of Peace Hospital, is requesting $1,198 to fund this treatment. Access to surgical treatment would allow Roland to regain comfort, resume normal activities, and provide more stability for his household. Roland shared, "I’m looking forward to playing basketball again without pain and being able to sit comfortably while spending time with my children."

Cynthia is a 26-year-old single mother of two young children from Kenya. She has a life of persistent hardship, being the firstborn in her family. This forced her to drop out of school due to a lack of school fees, cutting short her education and limiting her employment opportunities. Currently, she stays with her family, and they largely depend on her for the provision of basic needs. Determined to contribute to her children’s upbringing, she takes on small tailoring jobs, paid on commission. Though the income is minimal and inconsistent, it is the only means Cynthia has to provide essentials for her children. Three weeks ago, tragedy struck while Cynthia was returning home from her daily activities. She was involved in a road traffic accident after her motorcycle's front tire burst, causing her to fall forward and hit the ground forcefully with her chin. The impact left her severely injured and in pain. She was rushed to a nearby health facility, where she received a tetanus injection and pain medication before being referred for further medical care. Upon examination at AIC Kapsowar Hospital, Cynthia was found to have a deep left-sided facial laceration, loose teeth accompanied by bleeding, and significant jaw pain. An X-ray confirmed a non-displaced fracture of the mandible. Due to the nature of the injury, she was taken to the operating room and underwent an emergent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with arch bars to stabilise the fractured jaw. Unfortunately, after surgery, her jaw was not properly aligned. Surgical review has determined that she urgently requires a revision ORIF surgery to correct the alignment and restore proper jaw function. Cynthia initially received approval for her first surgery through SHA. However, she has been informed that a repeat ORIF procedure is not covered. Given her financial situation, she is unable to raise the funds required for this revision surgery. As a young mother already struggling to meet daily needs, the burden of medical expenses is beyond her capacity. Cynthia is therefore humbly appealing for support in undergoing the necessary revision surgery. Your assistance will not only restore her health but also enable her to continue caring for her two children, who depend entirely on her. The malalignment has caused her ongoing pain, difficulty chewing, and discomfort while speaking. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On March 3rd, Cynthia will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation revision. Without this corrective procedure, she risks long-term complications, including chronic pain, impaired nutrition due to difficulty eating, infection, and possible permanent deformity. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,014 to fund this procedure. Cynthia says, "I am still in pain. I feel poorly, am not able to even smile, and I pray for a successful recovery to be able to go home and help my family. Please help me."

Samuel is a 27-year-old father of two from Kenya. He previously worked as a casual laborer at a milk processing company and was very committed to providing for his family. In 2019, a neighbor asked Samuel for help picking mangoes. He accidentally fell and sustained a spinal injury that led to paralysis. Over time, he was able to move around using a wheelchair, but he could not go back to work. His wife is now the family’s breadwinner, taking on any casual jobs available. On the 24th of January, 2026, Samuel accidentally fell from the bed and landed on his left leg, resulting in a closed fracture. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On February 16th, Samuel will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This treatment will prevent complications such as nonunion of the bone, and his situation will become even more difficult, as he may remain permanently bedridden. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,048 to fund this procedure. Samuel shared, "I have waited, but my family is not able to pay the fee for this surgery. I would really appreciate it if helped, so that I can be operated. This will relieve my pain, and at least I can be well enough to move around rather than be in bed throughout."

Thi is a 24-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her husband in Karen State. Thi and her husband work as rubber tappers in the rubber fields, but she had to stop working in November 2025 because of her pregnancy. During her free time, she enjoys watching TikTok videos on her phone and doing her household chores. Thi is currently expecting her first child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high-risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Thi undergo a C-Section on January 16th at our medical partner's care center, Tha Song Yang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1500, and Thi needs your support. Thi expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much to donors for assisting with my C-section costs. I feel immense happiness for your support. Without your support, I could not afford the surgery and it could endanger my life. I hope you can continue to support more patients like me and wish for the wealth and growth of your organization."
