"Licheng is in grade 8 at school," writes our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. "She likes all kinds of Khmer food and likes to do Khmer traditional dance in her free time. She also likes to read school books."
Licheng has chronic otitis media, or inflammation of the middle ear, which affects her hearing and interferes with her ability to enjoy these activities.
"Licheng started having discharge from her right ear when she was seven, and has also developed hearing loss in that ear. She gets self-conscious when she has discharge and doesn't want to go to school," says our medical partner. "Her mother is very worried that something worse will happen if she doesn't get treatment soon."
Luckily, with our support, Licheng will be able to afford the $400 myringoplasty procedure she needs to save her hearing. With this treatment, Licheng will no longer experience discharge and her doctors are hopeful that her hearing will return to normal.
Let's help Licheng pay for the surgery she needs!
