Yuvraj is a nine-year-old boy who lives with his parents and siblings in Nepal. He studies in grade four. His father works in India to support the family back home, while his mother is responsible for grazing the cattle and looking after the children. Three days ago, Yuvraj fell from the porch of his house and fractured his left hand. He is in a lot of pain and the hand is swollen. After trying some herbal medicines at home, his parents noticed how Yuvraj still had difficulty moving his hand. This caused them to seek medical help. $195 will cover the costs of the x-ray, cast, and physiotherapy Yuvraj needs for his hand to properly heal. Let's help raise the funds! Muganzi is a seven-year-old boy from Uganda. He is the seventh of his parents' children. He is not in school yet due to of lack of money. His parents have a house on a small plot and they don’t have a piece of land of their own for cultivation. They depend on the mercy of other people, who rent them pieces of land. They struggle a lot, through casual labour, to get money to pay for the education of their six children in school. Three months ago Muganzi developed a swelling on his abdomen, which is painful and is increasing in size. He no longer plays with his friends because of the pain. His parents had not taken him to hospital because of a lack of enough money for both transport and treatment. Muganzi's father brought him to Holy Family Virika Hospital, a Watsi care center, after his friend told him about the Watsi program. Muganzi suffers form para-umbilical hernia, a condition where part of his intestine is protruding through the inner umbilical (belly button) area.If not treated, the hernia could become stuck, leading to damage to the intestine or even the stomach. $249 will cover the costs of the surgery and care Muganzi needs. After surgery, his parents hope to put Muganzi in school in 2017. Let's help raise the funds! “This injury has been very painful for Himal,” says Himal’s uncle. “He has been crying a lot.” Recently, eight-year-old Himal was minding cattle with his friends in the forest near their homes in Nepal. While walking down a steep hill, Himal slipped and fell hard. His elbow was dislocated in the fall, and his hand has become swollen. He received a deep cut on his forehead as well. Himal’s family was worried that he was not healing faster. His uncle shares, "Himal fainted for a while and was experiencing pain and a fever, so I decided to visit the doctors." They took a two-hour walk to visit Bayalpata Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a broken hand. Himal needs to have his hand set and casted in order for it to recover properly. However, his family cannot afford to pay for these procedures. His parents are farmers, and the typical yield from their field is enough to feed the family for only six months of the year. When times are tough, Himal’s father goes to India to work as a laborer and returns when he has saved some money. Davidson is a two-year-old little boy whose single father wishes to see him grow up healthy and strong. After being born with a cleft lip and palate, birth defects that occur when a baby’s lip and mouth do not form properly during pregnancy, Davidson had a hard time breastfeeding and taking in liquids because the fluid would pass through the opening in his mouth into his nostrils.
