Channa is a 34-year-old construction worker who, together with his wife, has one son and two daughters. His first daughter is now is school, while the other two are still pre-school aged. He likes to take his daughter to school and play with his kids outside, but recently his condition has worsened and he has not been able to work or do these things. Since birth, Channa has had amniotic band syndrome in his foot. This is a condition that occurs during fetal development, when a section of the amniotic sac wraps around parts of the body, causing constriction. For Channa, this condition has caused a malformed foot, similar to clubfoot. He never received any medical attention for this condition and occasionally experiences pain and swelling. Recently, the pain and swelling has increased to the point that he can no longer walk or work. Channa visited our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), where doctors will perform a contracture release procedure to allow his foot to heal. Once he has recovered, he will no longer experience pain or swelling and he will be able to walk more easily than before. The procedure is scheduled for May 14th, and now Channa needs help to fund this $454 procedure. Channa shared, "when I am better, I will return to work and work hard to support my family. I am excited to see my two youngest go to school, and I want to be able to walk them there."

Meng is a 19-year-old construction worker. He's been married for six months and works as a carpenter, metal worker, and roofer. In his free time, Meng enjoys listening to pop songs and playing volleyball and football. In August of 2020, Meng was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture to his right wrist. Doctors at a government hospital fixed hardware to his wrist after the accident to help the fracture heal. Now, the bone is united and the hardware needs to be removed. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On June 7th, Meng will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $230. This procedure will prevent future complications and pain. Meng shared, "I hope I can heal quickly from this procedure so I can return to work."

Ny is a 49-year-old married motor taxi driver. He has two sons who are both in school and his wife works in a garment factory. Right now, Ny cannot work as a motor taxi driver because of his vision. He enjoys listening to the news on his phone in his free time. Four years ago, Ny developed a cataract in his left eye causing him sensitivity to light and blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Ny learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours with his wife seeking treatment. On June 14th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure. Ny shared, "I hope my eye can see clearly again so I can drive my motor taxi to earn money for my family."

Tibinsasa is a 45-year-old small scale farmer and a married mother of seven children. Her oldest is now 21 years old and her youngest child is three. Her husband is a bricklayer in the village and together with the income from her farming, they earn enough to meet their family's basic needs. Tibinsasa and her family live in a three-room semi-permanent house. For three months, Tibinsasa has been experiencing lower abdominal pain, severe headaches and dizziness. She has been diagnosed with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and visited our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. The surgery will prevent the condition from further impacting her daily life and ensure that Tibinsasa is pain-free. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $228 to fund Tibinsasa's surgery. On June 3rd, she will undergo gynecological surgery at AMH's care center. Once recovered, Tibinsasa will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Tibinsasa shared, “I am in poor health condition and I need medical assistance. I hope I will be able to resume farming as soon as possible.”

Prince is a three-year-old boy from Kenya and the fifth born in a family of six children. Prince's mother works as a vendor and separated from Prince's father after he was born. Prince has an abnormal gait and limps when he walks. His mother shared that he has had the condition since birth and feels it may have started when, unfortunately, the doctor dropped Prince during her Caesarian delivery. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Prince receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo a proximal fibular osteotomy on June 14th at AMH's care center. After surgery, his gait will improve and he will be able to walk to school and continue with his studies. Now, their family needs help raising $1,224 to fund the procedure. Prince's mother shared, “I am appealing for help from well-wishers, I would like to see my son walking well like other children and continuing with life normally."
