Khyler is a 12-year-old girl from the Philippines. Our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), tells us that Khyler is very active at school and loves drawing and singing. Khyler has a painful swelling in her right eye, numbness in her lower arm, and a mass on the sole of her right foot due to a condition called neurofibroma, which is a tumor of the nerves. Because of the swellings on her body, Khyler is bullied by her classmates which has caused her emotional distress, ICM shares. Her parents cannot afford any treatment because the family is recovering from a recent typhoon. “We are very hopeful for the treatment of our child,” says her parents, “we want to see our child live normally, free from the bullies around.” $1,500 will help Khyler receive a blepharoplasty and mass excisions; the treatment will remove the swellings and surgically repair her eyelid. It will also hopefully improve her self esteem. Khyler's parents tell ICM, “after the treatment, she is excited to have more friends and be a normal teenager.”
