Theara is a bright 3rd grade student. He has two older sisters and his parents are garment workers in a factory. Theara loves to play football with his friends. Three years ago, the retina of Theara's left eye detached, causing him partial blindness and tearing. When Theara's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On November 23rd, eye surgeons will perform a retinal detachment repair procedure in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, our medical partner needs help to fund this $648 procedure. Theara's mother says, "I hope his eye can heal so he can see clearly again."

Bruno is a 10-year-old student in the fourth grade. He is the firstborn in his family. His parents are farmers with a modest income to meet most of their day to day needs. Bruno's father shared that he is a kind and cheerful boy. Since he was born, Bruno has had a hydrocele, or swelling. However, 6 months ago, the hydrocele became painful. The hydrocele manifests itself as a swelling in a sensitive area. His parents have tried seeking treatment earlier without success. Now, Bruno is not able to play around actively like other children. HIs family took him to Rushoroza Hospital and doctors have told them that he needs a hydrocelectomy surgery. Their family appeals for help to fund his care. Fortunately, on November 19th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is requesting $170 to fund Bruno's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Bruno's father says, “My son is no longer active like he used to be and I am worried. I hope he may get well through surgery so that he can return to school and proceed with his education comfortably.”
