Emmanuel is a young boy from Kenya. He is the second child to his parents, Since he was one month old, Emmanuel has had an inguinal hernia. This causes him pain and discomfort and if not treated, it may result in intestinal tissue damage and death. Fortunately, on March 5, he will undergo repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $423 to fund Emmanuel's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. “I hope that soon all this will be behind us. We hope you can help,” shares Emmanuel’s mother.

Thorn is a 62-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She enjoys watching Khmer TV dramas as well as looking after her seven grandchildren. Six months ago, Thorn developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, teary eyes, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Thorn learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three and a half hours seeking treatment. On February 18, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that I will be able to see everything clearly so I am able to continue my work as a rice farmer and so I can look after my grandchildren."

Kosal is a boy from Cambodia. He has two other siblings and loves to play outside with friends. He wants to be a teacher when he grows up. For the past five months, he has had a recurrent infection that makes it difficult to breathe and sleep. Surgery can get rid of the infection and improve his quality of life. He will be able to sleep again and focus better. Kosal is scheduled to undergo tonsil surgery on February 6. His family needs help raising $221 to fund the procedure. His mother says, "I hope that after the surgery, I don't have to worry about my son and that he will feel better."

Fridah is a young woman from Kenya. She is the eldest of three children. Fridah has clubfoot of her right foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Fridah traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on January 28. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,224 to fund Fridah's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be ale to walk easily. Fridah says, “I am praying to God that I can undergo surgery and resume my normal life and studies without pain.”

Piseth is an eight grade student from Cambodia. He has a sister and two brothers. He likes studying math and wants to go into construction work when he finishes school. He enjoys going for walks and listening to music. Two months ago, he was electrocuted by a wire while on a roof, and his hands and legs were badly burned. It is very painful and he cannot use his hands. When Piseth learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On January 11, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin graft procedure to to heal his wounds. Now, Piseth needs help to fund this $440 procedure. He says, "I hope I won't be in any more pain after the surgery."
