Meet Pamela, a 27-year-old woman from Kenya! “Pamela is kind and polite mother of two children who are currently in their early primary school,” describes our medical partner, Lwala Community Alliance (LCA). ”Pamela is married to a farmer who grows food crop on their small piece of land while she runs a business. She likes watching netball and athletics whenever she is free.” Pamela is currently pregnant with her third child. “Pamela feels lower abdominal pain and some back pain in most of her morning hours,” explains LCA. “Pamela cannot afford the cost of her treatment because what they currently have can only cater for their family's needs.” For $290, Pamela will receive proper prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care to ensure a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery. “I hope for a safe delivery and quick recovery so that I can return to my business and improve on our family’s income,” says Pamela. Meet Cherry! Cherry is a 30-year-old mother of three who lives in Burma with her family. Together they have a farm where they plant rice, and her oldest daughter has just started school. After her third child, Cherry felt a small mass in her pelvic area. She “experiences fatigue, cannot work for long hours, and feels uncomfortable when sitting or standing for a long time,” explains Cherry’s medical team at the Burma Border Projects. For $865, Cherry will receive an OB/GYN medical procedure that will address her cervical mass. “I really want to get well soon so I can take care of my family again,” says Cherry. Meet 20-year-old Lynod from Malawi. He lives with his parents who are subsistence farmers, which means that almost all of their livestock and crops are used to meet the family's basic needs. Lynod's parents work hard to support their family and take extra care of Lynod as he manages his health. Lynod has a hydrocele, a fluid-filled sack, that makes it difficult for him to walk. Say hello to Orn, a kind and playful six-year-old boy from Cambodia! “Orn likes playing with his toy cars and practicing writing Khmer letters," Children's Surgical Centre (CSC) tells us. "Orn was born with a cataract in his left eye," CSC continues. "He is partially blind making it hard for him to study in the first grade and carry out daily life -- like playing."
