Stanley is a student from Haiti. He lives in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince with his mother, father, and brothers. He is in the third grade and likes listening to soccer games on the radio and playing with his friends. Stanley has a cardiac condition called severe valvar pulmonic stenosis. One of the four valves in his heart is too narrow, preventing enough blood from passing through it and leading to heart failure. Stanley will fly to Cayman Islands to receive treatment. On January 10, he will undergo cardiac surgery. During surgery, the team will insert a catheter with a balloon at the end into his heart, and inflate the balloon to stretch his valve open. Another organization, Have a Heart Cayman, is contributing $14,000 to pay for surgery. Stanley's family also needs help to fund the costs of surgery prep. The $1,500 bill covers labs, medicines, and checkup and followup appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, who will accompany Stanley's family overseas. His mother says, "I am happy my son can have this surgery so that I don't have to be scared about his health."

Chit is a one-year-old boy from Thailand. He lives with his parents in Mae Sot, a border town. He loves to play with his parents. Since he was one month old, Chit has had an inguinal hernia. Now, his hernia is getting bigger. He is in pain and cries a lot, and he is no longer able to play. Fortunately, on January 6, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at Mae Sot General Hospital, our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund Chit's hernia repair surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on January 6 and, once completed, will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably. His mother says, "I want my son to be a teacher when he grows up."

Sout is a hairdresser from Cambodia. She has four sons, two daughters, and 10 grandchildren. She enjoys reading books about Buddha. One year ago, Sout developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, eye irritation, and blurred vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Sout learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On February 13, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. Her daughter-in-law says, "I am very worry about my mother-in-law's vision, I think she may be blind. I worry about her and hope surgery will help her."

Giovan is a baby from Tanzania. His mother is a tailor, while his father repairs mobile phones to earn a living and support his family. Since he was two months old, Giovan has been experiencing fevers, sleep apnea, and weight loss. He is frequently ill and on constant medication. He was recently diagnosed with enlarged adenoids, which are the soft tissue behind the nasal cavity. Without treatment, this condition will cause Giovan's symptoms to persist and possibly even intensify. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $609 to fund an adenoidectomy for Giovan, which is scheduled to take place on January 4. Surgeons will remove his adenoids, hopefully relieving Giovan of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably. Giovan’s mother says, “I am so happy for the treatment will get. May God bless you abundantly.”

Ann is a playful and happy three-year-old girl from Kenya. She lives in a children's orphanage. In 2015, Ann sustained burn injuries on her hand from an ash accident. She was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries. However, now she is having difficulty playing with other children and holding objects properly, and so has been recommended for contracture release surgery. On October 5, Ann will undergo surgery at our medical partner's care center, AIC Kijabe Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is asking for $1,176 in funds to cover the cost of her procedure and accompanying lab, hospital, and medicine fees. After surgery, Ann will be able to play with the other children without difficulty!

Hassan is a 13-year-old from Tanzania. He's a gregarious and active teenager who enjoys going to school and spending time with his siblings. In 2008, Hassan fell from a tree and broke his left femur. Although he received treatment for the injury and the bone healed, Hassan began developing clubfoot. If left untreated, Hassan will never be able to wear shoes or walk pain-free. Unfortunately, Hassan's mother is a small-scale maize and rice farmer and can't afford to pay for her son's treatment. On July 14, Hassan will begin treatment for his clubfoot. He will first undergo surgery, then receive a cast, followed by physical therapy. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $890 to fund the treatment. “I will be very happy if Hassan will receive treatment support and be able to attend school properly and fulfill his life dreams," says his mother.
