Ibrahim is a playful three-year-old boy who is about to start kindergarten. His mother is a hardworking single parent of two children who works as a hawker selling goods. Since birth, Ibrahim has had a right inguinal hernia. On December 21st, his mother brought him to the hospital because he was experiencing frequent vomiting and periodic swelling in his inguinal area that worsens when he stands. Ibrahim can experience pain, vomiting, a reduced appetite, and discomfort while walking. Upon review, doctors recommended surgery. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), is helping Ibrahim receive surgery that will help him live more comfortably. On December 29th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at the care center. AMHF is requesting $631 to fund Ibrahim’s procedure. Ibrahim’s mother shared, “I am happy that his condition can be treated surgically. Ibrahim needs to be happy like other children and play with friends during this holiday.”

Muon is a 57-year-old woman with has two siblings. She has dedicated her life to her local pagoda. She lives at the pagoda, makes sure the young monks have food, and that the pagoda is cleaned routinely. Three years ago, Muon developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her to see only shadows. She is unable to recognize people or to see in bright or dim lighting. When Muon learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled across the country for eight hours seeking treatment. On December 9th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure. Muon shared, "I hope after surgery my eye can see better. Then I can prepare and clean the pagoda and take care of myself."

Eunice is a mother of two sons and the sole breadwinner of her family. After completing primary school, she did not proceed with secondary school as her parents lacked school fees. Since then, Eunice has been doing casual labour where she can find work to make ends meet. She grows pineapples, selling them along the highway to provide for her sons. For 6 months, Eunice has been experiencing backpains and lower abdominal pains. She had a scan done and she was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids. Eunice desires to be treated so that she can resume her farming and selling pineapples to sustain her family. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $219 to fund Eunice's surgery. On October 6th, she will undergo gynecological surgery at our medical partner's care center. Once recovered, Eunice will be able to resume her daily activities free of pain. Eunice says “My entire family looks up to me and with poor health, I cannot do much. I hope that with your support, all will be fine and I will be able to continue with my activities.”

Sok Heng is a nine-year-old student in the third grade. She has two siblings, including a younger brother and an older sister. Her father works in construction, while her mother works in a factory. When she is not in school, she likes to read books and play games with her older sister. Her favorite subject is math, and she would like to be an engineer when she grows up. Since she was two months old, Sok Heng has had a mass on her upper lip. She was treated at a local hospital with medication, but the mass has continued to grow and she experiences discomfort. She has been diagnosed with a hemangioma, or a bump made up of extra blood vessels in the skin. Fortunately, our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), is helping Sok Heng to receive treatment. She traveled to CSC's care center where, on December 3rd, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Sok Heng needs help raising $231 to fund her procedure and care. Sok Heng's mother shared, "I hope she gets better after surgery, and she can go to school and look like other children."
