Pheap hopes to see clearly again after successful treatment for her cataracts. One year ago, she developed a cataract in each eye that causes her blurred vision and prevents her from doing her work and going outside on her own.
Pheap is a 64-year-old woman from Cambodia who is married without children. She enjoys visiting the pagoda to listen to the monks pray. Pheap traveled four hours with her friend to reach Watsi's medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), for treatment.
Doctors at CSC will perform a phacoemulsification procedure, during which they will break apart and aspirate the clouded lenses and replace them with intraocular lens implants for $225.
After her procedure, Pheap will regain her vision and be able to return to the activities she enjoys.
