Meet Bertha! Bertha is a hard working primary school teacher from Malawi. She is 25-years-old and loves to teach kids. As a teacher, Bertha has never earned enough money to afford treatment while pregnant. She has now developed an umbilical hernia, causing her swelling and pain in her abdomen, which makes her pregnancies difficult and painful. Bertha says ,“I think if I get healed, I will never have to worry about being pregnant with this condition.” Watsi’s medical partners in Malawi agree. They tell us that if her hernia can be treated, “the bulge on the navel will disappear with all its related pain.” For $615 we can treat Bertha’s hernia and help her get back into the classroom.
