This smiley guy is Said. Said is an infant from Somalia whose parents hope he will “become a great leader in our country and change it for the better.” Said was born with an open bladder, which puts him at risk for infection and social isolation as he grows up. Said’s parents traveled across the Somali border into Ethiopia to seek treatment for him. Traveling through Somalia is not easy, and they needed donations from friends and family just to cover the transportation costs to get to our partner hospital. For $1,500, we can pay for Said's bladder exstrophy repair surgery and allow him to grow up healthy!

Pheak is a 50-year-old proud father of nine children who has lived in Cambodia his entire life. He is a cheerful guy, despite having been through a lot of hardship in life. When Pheak was 17 years old, he was near his home on the Vietnam border when a landmine exploded and injured his right leg. Pheak's wounds were not treated properly, so he has spent most of his life in pain and unable to walk on his own. To make matters more complicated, Pheak now has a severe bone infection that requires a below-the-knee amputation to treat. After this surgery, Pheak can be fitted with a prosthetic to enable him to walk. For $225, we can help Pheak receive the surgery and prosthetic he needs to finally live a fully mobile life. Joel is a sweet and polite five-year-old boy who loves playing cards. He is the second of two children, and lives with his mother, who works in a salon. Joel is unable to walk properly because he has a clubfoot, a condition where the foot angles inwards at the ankle. If left untreated, Joel will likely develop painful osteoarthritis in the bones of his foot at an early age. “I would love to see my son able to walk properly” says Joel's mother.
