Nwe Nwe is a 42-year-old woman from Thailand. She lives with her husband and youngest son. She has two other children who study in Burma, and currently live with Nwe Nwe's mother. Nwe Nwe underwent biliary obstruction repair on June 29. The day after her surgery, she had severe stomach pain. Gradually, the pain has worsened since then. Doctors want Nwe Nwe to undergo a CT scan, a procedure in which x-ray images taken from several angles are combined to produce cross-sectional images of the body. This scan will hopefully help doctors diagnose her condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $414 to cover the cost of Nwe Nwe's CT scan and care, scheduled for July 4. Nwe Nwe's husband says, "I am worried for my wife and sad to see she is in a lot of pain."
Ion is a government worker from Cambodia. He has two sons, one daughter, and one grandchild. He likes watching the news on TV. A year ago, Ion developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him photophobia and blurred vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Ion learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 4, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure. He says, "I hope I can return to work and spend time with my family."
