Kayee is a happy and active 12-year-old boy from Tanzania. Kayee lives with his mother and two younger siblings, and he helps his mother by tending to his family's cattle and other household duties. Kayee has been diagnosed with bilateral genu valgum, a condition often referred to as "knock-knees." This means that Kayee's knees are misaligned and turn inwards, causing him trouble walking, extreme difficulty performing daily activities, and pain. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $838 to fund corrective surgery for Kayee that will help guide future bone growth. Kayee's surgery is scheduled to take place on June 27 and, once completed, will hopefully improve his mobility. "I will be very happy if my legs will be straightened up and be like other children’s legs so that I can continue helping my mother," says Kayee.

Olivia is a 25-year-old farmer from Uganda who is expecting her second child. Olivia works as a small scale farmer, growing yams, bananas, beans, and other crops to support her family. During her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and watching her daughter grow up. Doctors consider Olivia’s pregnancy to be "high-risk" because her first child was delivered by C-section. This increases the likelihood that she will need to deliver her second baby by C-section, as well. Doctors recommend that Olivia receive medical attention before, during, and after labor to ensure a safe delivery. On July 19, she will begin to receive pre-natal supplements and attend pre-natal checkups and health education classes. She will also be closely monitored during and after her delivery to ensure both she and baby are healthy. Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $241 to fund Olivia's ongoing care. "I am very grateful for the help from donors to have a safe delivery for my new baby. Please thank all the donors for me," Olivia says.

Esime is a farmer from Malawi. She recently traveled to our medical partner’s care center, Kabudula Community Hospital. Kabudula is a rural community outside of the capital city of Lilongwe. The health catchment area serves roughly 350,000 people, but the health centers and the hospital are often poorly stocked and staffed.  One of Esime’s teeth has been causing her bothersome symptoms. Diet is an issue for dental health in Malawi, where sugarcane is prevalent. Also, there is little to no oral health education in Malawi and limited access to a dental professional. In fact, there are fewer than 20 dentists across the country. Fortunately, a visiting dentist will perform a dental extraction. A dental extraction is a simple procedure with few risks, and it will result in a significant reduction in her symptoms. Esime is scheduled to undergo treatment on July 21. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting just $28 to fund the procedure.

Mwesigwa is a six-year-old boy who lives with his parents and two siblings in Uganda. About one month ago, Mwesigwa began experiencing pain and swelling in his scrotum. His condition has caused him to miss school and feel embarrassed around his peers. Worried about her son, Mwesigwa's mother sought treatment through our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation. Mwesigwa's swelling was diagnosed as a hydrocele, and he is now scheduled to undergo hydrocele repair surgery on July 6 to alleviate his pain and discomfort. Mwesigwa's family is requesting $139 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. Mwesigwa's mother says, “I hope to have peace of mind because my child has been suffering with this."
