“We have really worked hard to try to get the right treatment for our son and we came across many obstacles," Patrick's mother says, "but we still have hope. We hope that our son will one day walk properly, allowing him to continue with normal growth and have the ability to perform well in various activities.”
Patrick is an eighteen-month-old from Tanzania. The second born in his family, behind Patrick’s serious demeanor is a curious mind, constantly analyzing and absorbing the world around him. He is happiest around his mother or when playing with cars.
Patrick was born with unilateral clubfoot, requiring him to use the lateral aspect of his right foot for walking. This makes him walk and run slowly compared to other children, and will turn into a life-long disability if left untreated.
“Patrick’s parents are small scale farmers, mostly relying on growing and selling maize and peanuts,” says AMHF. “Given that they only own a small piece of land, even what they get is little. Coming up with the money to cover the cost of treatment for their son has been difficult.”
Together, we can help Patrick get access to the medical care he needs to grow up to be a strong young man, walking and running with all of the other children. $1,160 will cover Patrick’s treatment which will include x-rays, braces, and surgery.
