Meet Tim, a 64-year-old woman from Cambodia. “Tim is married with two sons, seven daughters, and 18 grandchildren. She enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio," says our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Tim has mature cataracts in both eyes. A cataract occurs when a thin, cloudy layer forms over the eye’s lens. This condition can cause extreme discomfort, loss of vision, or even functional blindness.
After learning about CSC from a neighbor, Tim and her sister traveled four hours to reach CSC. They learned that, after a simple surgical procedure, Tim may regain her sight.
With $225, Tim will undergo cataract surgery, during which her old lenses will be removed and replaced with sheer artificial implants--allowing Tim to regain sight immediately after her operation.
Tim’s sister shares, “I hope my sister can see everything clear again. I hope she can easy do work and go anywhere by herself.”
