Dennis is a baby from Kenya. He is the only child to his mother, who tends a small farm in order to support herself and her son. Dennis was born with spina bifida, a type of neural tube defect in which the spine does not properly close around the spinal cord. Without treatment, Dennis is at risk of lower-limb paralysis, infection of the exposed nervous tissue, development of tethered cord syndrome, and possible developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,097 to cover the cost of Dennis's spina bifida closure surgery. The procedure is scheduled to take place on April 12. This procedure will hopefully spare Dennis from the risks associated with his condition, instead allowing him to grow and develop along a healthy trajectory. “When I got Dennis, I was grateful to God because we have people who wish they had even disable children and they cannot. I will give the best I can for him and shame the devil,” shares Dennis’s mother.

Ezekiel is a baby from Kenya. He lives with his parents and siblings in a one-room house Nairobi. Ezekiel’s mother stays at home to tend to her children, while his father is employed at a construction site. Ezekiel has been diagnosed with hydrocephalus, a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain and increases intracranial pressure. As a result of his condition, Ezekiel has been experiencing an increasing head circumference and irritability. Without treatment, Ezekiel will experience severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $685 to cover the cost of surgery for Ezekiel that will treat his hydrocephalus. The procedure is scheduled to take place on March 8 and will drain the excess fluid from Ezekiel's brain. This will reduce intracranial pressure and greatly improve his quality of life. With proper treatment, Ezekiel will hopefully develop into a strong, healthy young boy. “I had lost hope but through BethanyKids and Watsi I feel a ray of hope veering. I look forward to have Ezekiel treated now that we do not have to worry about his treatment cost,” shares Ezekiel’s mother.

Bun is a six-year-old from Cambodia. He has one older sister. He likes to play with his neighbors and watch cartoons. When he grows up he wants to be a teacher in his village. Bun has ptosis in his left eye. Ptosis occurs when the eyelid droops over the eye. He feels uncomfortable when he is at school Bun traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On February 5, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform an eyelid correction procedure to improve his vision. Now, Bun needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure. His mother says, "I hope my son can feel more comfortable and less shy at school after the surgery."
