Sak is a rice farmer from Cambodia. She has one daughter and one grandchild. She likes to watch the news on TV and listen to monks pray on the radio. Two years ago, Sak developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision, itchiness, and a clouded lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Sak learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On October 17, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope I can return to work and lead an independent life."

Esther is a smallholder farmer from Malawi. She has a small farm and keeps busy with housework, while enjoying reading the Bible in her free time. She lives with her husband. Together they have three children and a grandchild. Since last year, Esther has been experiencing pain and bleeding. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Esther's surgery. On September 14, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. She is very happy to be helped through surgery to overcome the problems that are bothering her. She says, "I am very proud of this program because without it, I could not pay for my surgery!"

Onesiforo is a young child from Tanzania. He is the youngest in a family of two. He is an active boy who loves to play with his brother. Onesiforo’s parents are small-scale farmers. Last year, Onesiforo was sitting next to a fire when the cloth in which he was wrapped caught fire. Most parts of his stomach and hands were severely burned. The burns have turned into contractures, limiting his ability to use his right hand. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Onesiforo receive treatment. On September 6, surgeons at their care center will perform a burn contracture release surgery to help him use his right hand again and go back to school. Now, he needs help to fund this $832 procedure. Onesiforo’s father says, “Since his arm healed and his skin contracted, he has not been able to use his right arm, making his life difficult. Please help my son get the needed surgery and be able to use his arm again.”
