Meet Mourine, a 23-year-old mother of two from Kenya. She is an active member of the local sumba women netball club and enjoys singing gospel songs in her free time. Currently, she is expecting her third child with her husband who works as a shopkeeper and farmer.
“Two weeks ago, Mourine dealt with severe malaria,” reports our medical partner Lwala Community Alliance. Fortunately, she was able to get treatment and recover; however, “at times she says she feels lower abdominal pain that prevents her from working regularly.” This pain, coupled with the fact that she is pregnant, has prevented her from performing her everyday activities.
Mourine’s family cannot afford to pay for a delivery in a health facility but she tells us, “I hope to deliver there because it will be much easier for the clinicians to attend to me quickly in case of any complications.”
For only $290, we can help this humble, hard-working woman afford the safe delivery of her child, a right that every mother should have. Let’s work together to make sure her child is safely brought into this world!
