Lavy is a motorcyle taxi driver from Cambodia. He is married and has two sons. He likes to watch TV in his free time. Twenty years ago, Lavy had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his right ear to perforate. For this reason, Lavy experiences discharge, itchiness, tinnitus. He cannot hear clearly. Lavy traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On November 7, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his right ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. He says, "I hope I have no more ear pain after the operation."

Juma is a farmer from Uganda. He is married and a father of six children. For one year, Juma has had an inguinal hernia. This hernia causes him pain and if not treated may result in intestinal tissue damage. Fortunately, on November 14, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Juma's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, "After surgery I will have peace of mind and continue working in my fields."

Tak is a construction worker from Cambodia. He has one daughter and one son. He likes to go for walks, play sports with friends, and watch TV. Nine months ago, he was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a fracture in his left leg. He cannot walk and is unable to work. He is in pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 12, Tak will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $430. This procedure will help him walk easily again. He says, "After surgery, I hope I can walk on my own and return to work."

Sebahinji is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. He has two children. For three years, Sebahinji has had an epigastric hernia. This hernia causes him pain and discomfort and if not treated, it may result in intestinal tissue twisting and blocking. Fortunately, on November 14, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Sebahinji's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, "After surgery I will be happy and resume working in my fields."

Sonich is a farmer from Cambodia. He has one sister and three brothers. He likes to listen to music and play games. Seventeen years ago, Sonich had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in his left ear to perforate. For this reason, Sonich experiences tinnitus and ear discharge. He cannot hear well. Sonich traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On November 7, he will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in his left ear. Idi is a student from Tanzania. He is the youngest in a family of eight children. His best subjects are science and Swahili. He loves playing soccer with his friends. Idi has been diagnosed with acquired left genu valgus. Early last year, his parents noticed their son’s left leg was weakening and bending inwards. This condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $940 to fund corrective surgery for Idi. The procedure is scheduled to take place on November 2. Treatment will hopefully restore Idi's mobility, allow him to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease his risk of future complications. Idi’s sister says, “My parents are not able to afford the surgery cost and my brother's condition keeps worsening. Please help him."

Keng is a laundromat worker from Cambodia. He has been married for five years. He likes to listen to classical music and go for walks in his free time. For the past two months he has experienced a lot of hip pain on his right side. He cannot walk and cannot work. Fortunately, Keng learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. At CSC, surgeons can perform a total hip replacement to relieve Keng of his pain and allow him to walk easily. Treatment is scheduled for October 16, and Keng needs help raising $1,025 to pay for this procedure. He says, "After surgery I hope I can walk normally and have no more pain."
