Asaba is a baby from Uganda. He is the youngest of seven children. Since birth, Asaba has had an inguinal hernia. This hernia causes him pain and discomfort. If not treated, the hernia may result in intestinal tissue damage and death. Fortunately, on March 13, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Asaba's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. His mother says, "After surgery my son will have peace and stop crying."

Ratanak is a five-year-old boy from Cambodia. He is an only child. He likes to drink soda. Ratanak has ptosis in his right eye. Ptosis occurs when the eyelid droops over the eye. He has difficulty seeing. Ratanak traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On October 01, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform an eyelid correction procedure to improve his vision. Now, Ratanak needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure. His mother says, "I feel unhappy that my son has vision problems and I hope that my son's eye looks very good after surgery."

Srey Mom is a hair stylist from Cambodia. She has four sisters and three brothers. She likes to hang out with her friends and watch TV. Since she was a child, Srey Mom had an ear infection. This infection caused a cholesteatoma, or an abnormal skin growth, to develop in the middle ear behind the ear drum. For this reason, Srey Mom experiences right ear discharge, recurrent infection, and hearing loss. It is difficult for her to hear, and she often has infections, which are uncomfortable. Srey Mom traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On February 12, she will undergo a mastoidectomy procedure in her right ear. During this procedure, ENT surgeons will remove the cholesteatoma. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $842 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I am looking forward to having my hearing restored and relaxing with my friends."

Dorcus is a child from Tanzania. She is the first born in her family. Dorcus’s mother is a small businesswoman, and her father is a motorcycle taxi driver. Since she was five months old, Dorcus has been experiencing regular fevers, difficulty breathing, and sleep apnea. Frequent illness has lead to several hospital admissions. Dorcus was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $633 to fund a tonsillectomy for Dorcus, which is scheduled to take place on January 4. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Dorcus of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. Dorcus’s parents say, “Please help our daughter get this treatment. She is not eating or sleeping well, and she keeps loosing weight.”

Magali is a 28-year-old woman from Guatemala. Magali is single and lives with her parents in Guatemala's rural highlands. With a passion for studying, Magali is taking weekend university classes, while working a full-time job and assisting with her family's business. Magali has always had problems with her sight, but she has never been able to afford a visit to an eye doctor. However, a month ago, Magali was able to get her vision checked at a free clinic. In this visit, she was diagnosed with myopia, or nearsightedness. Through our medical partner, Wuqu' Kawoq, Magali is scheduled for an eye evaluation and to receive prescription lenses on June 12. She is requesting $552 to cover the total cost of her treatment. With a pair of glasses to fix her blurry vision, Magali will more easily be able to work, study, and support her family.
