Alex is a 29-year-old single man from Kenya. He is an orphan and lives with his grandmother. HIs mother passed away when he and his twin brother were seven years old. He completed his education up to secondary level, but his grandmother was unable to support him to continue to college. Currently, Alex works as a conductor to earn a living. He enjoys playing football, and this accident has left him feeling devastated. Three days ago, while on his way to work, Alex was accidentally hit by a motorbike and sustained an injury to his left leg. He was taken to our medical partner's care center, Nazareth Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a double fracture of the left tibia. He needs surgery to ensure proper healing. On December 16th, Alex will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This treatment will restore his strength and mobility on his leg, and will allow him to play football again, which he deeply loves. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,048 to fund this procedure. Alex shared, "I am very disappointed because I will be out of the field. I hope my leg will be treated and I get well soon. I can't wait to go back to what I love to do most; play football."

Abiay is a three-year-old girl who lives with her parents and siblings in Biharamulo District, Tanzania. Her parents depend on farming to support the family, and they work hard to provide stability and education for their children. As Abiay learned to walk, her parents noticed both her legs bending inward. When they took her for an evaluation, she was diagnosed with genu varus. Several factors could cause this condition, such as growth disorders, vitamin deficiencies, or excessive fluoride found in contaminated drinking water. As a result, the knees can be angled inwards or outwards; this makes it difficult to walk and can lead to long-term joint damage. As she grew, Abiay began to trip easily, get tired quickly, and struggle to keep up with her peers. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $810 to fund treatment for Abiay. The procedure is scheduled to take place on December 5th at our medical partner's care center, Kafika House. Treatment will hopefully restore Abiay's mobility, allow her to participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decrease her risk of future complications. Abiay's father says, "I hope my daughter's legs will be corrected, and she won't struggle growing up living with this condition."

Judith is a three-year-old cheerful young girl from Kenya, the youngest of three siblings. She spends most of her time at home with her parents, who are small-scale farmers. Despite her vibrant spirit, Judith has not yet started school due to a condition that makes walking difficult. She was born with bilateral Talipes Equinovarus (TEV), commonly known as clubfoot. This condition causes her feet to turn inward, making it challenging for her to walk or stand properly. Judith's journey toward recovery began with surgeries on both feet at another medical facility, followed by another procedure at our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure Hospital. Unfortunately, her condition recurred, presenting new challenges to her mobility and daily life. She is now back at the hospital to undergo a procedure called Bilateral Achilles Tendon Lengthening (ATL) surgery. This treatment is essential for her recovery and will help her walk comfortably and confidently, ultimately having a significant impact on her life. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Judith receive treatment. On November 28th, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery to treat her condition, enabling her to walk, play and join school like other children her age. The treatment will also hopefully boost her self-esteem, allowing her to participate in activities at home and school without difficulties. Now, Judith's family needs help to fund this $1,286 procedure. Her mother says: "I look forward to seeing her walk like other children, and eventually join school when she fully recovers"

John is a devoted farmer and a loving father of three boys. He finds solace and fulfillment in tending to his farm, caring for his sheep and cows. Unfortunately, last year, he suffered a leg injury that affected his mobility, and he now relies on a walker to move around. Thankfully, his wife has been a great support, assisting him with daily tasks since the accident. When our medical partner first encountered John, he had come to the emergency department with a four-day-old fracture. The injury occurred when he bravely confronted a wild animal that had threatened his sheep during the night. However, he slipped on muddy ground during the encounter, resulting in a severe injury to his right leg. Upon closer examination, doctors discovered that John had experienced a previous fracture in the same leg about a year ago, which had never received proper treatment. Despite getting a cast in a nearby health facility, John and his family couldn't afford the transportation to Kapsowar Hospital for treatment by an orthopedic surgeon. Consequently, he endured pain and had limited use of his limb. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH) has skilled surgeons who can offer assistance. On August 2nd, John is scheduled to undergo a fracture repair procedure, known as an open reduction and internal fixation. This intervention will alleviate his pain, allow for proper healing, and restore his ability to work and provide for his family. To support John's journey to recovery, AMH is seeking $1145 to fund the procedure. Your generous contribution will make a significant impact, giving John the opportunity to heal, regain mobility, and continue his vital role as a provider for his family. John says, "I have had problems with my body, and my financial status is very poor. I wish I was well and with energy so that I can do my daily chores. Please help me undergo this surgery so that I may be strong and be able to restore my mobility.”

Innocent is a father of five children all of them in school. He managed to finish class 7 himself but could not proceed with his education. He later decided to be a preacher. From his preaching services, he is paid only $30 every Sunday. He is married and together with his family, they live a 3-roomed mud-built house. For four years, Innocent has had right inguinal hernia. The hernia presents as a swelling around his inguinal area and makes it uncomfortable for him to walk. He went to a government hospital but could not receive surgery. At Nyakibale Hospital, he could not raise the money needed for surgery and thus appealed for help. Fortunately, on September 13th, he will be able to undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $230 to fund Innocent's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Innocent says: “it will be a great honour and I will be humble seeing my health improve. I really have a lot of things to do but with this pain, I can’t do much yet and I know my family needs me.”
