Thidar lives in Burma with her husband and two children. She loves to read and spend time at home doing sewing projects when she's not at work, but the symptoms caused by a benign tumor in her uterus— back pain, dizziness, and abdominal bleeding — have forced her to stop working. Thidar is extremely worried about her financial situation. Her entire family is now living off her husband's small salary and they cannot afford the surgery she needs to remove the tumor. For $540, we can fund Thidar's surgery and relieve her of the constant stress and pain of the tumor. Let's help her get her life back!

When Neema was just ten years old, she developed a swelling mass on her neck which continued to grow in size until she had to seek medical attention. Although doctors identified the mass as a benign tumor, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor because it was causing her pain and difficulty swallowing. Since then, Neema has had several small surgeries to slow the growth of the mass, but it has continued to grow in size. Neema still lives with her family and her health issues have put a great strain on their wellbeing. Her father earns money as a day laborer while her mother cares for Neema's siblings. Neema can no longer attend school, or speak and eat easily because of the painful tumor but she cannot afford any more treatments. For $1500, Neema will receive an operation to remove the entire tumor. This surgery will allow Neema to eat and speak without pain and finally return to school. She says that once she is better, she wants to become a teacher and give back to her family for supporting her so much.

Saw Zaw is 39-years-old. He was recently diagnosed with several kidney and urological problems; he has multiple stones blocking his bile ducts and a benign tumor causing dizziness, fatigue, jaundice, and fever. He's unable to work because of the condition. Saw Zaw first noticed his health problem seven years ago, while he was living in Burma. He and his wife are both school teachers, but after spending their savings on medical bills and taking out risky loans, they ultimately lost their home. They now live in a refugee camp near the Thai-Burma border where our medical partner works. For $1,000, we can help Saw Zaw receive treatment to permanently resolve his condition and enable him to work, take care of his family, pay back his loans, and get his life back.

Elisante is a soft-spoken 11-year-old boy living in Tanzania. A relative took him in after his parents were unable to care for him, but despite his difficult early years, he has big dreams. Our medical partner says he wants “to study hard and later on get into seminary school and become a pastor." Unfortunately, Elisante is sick most of the time because he has Hirschsprung’s disease. Hirschsprung’s disease is a condition that causes his intestines to dilate and the microorganisms from his bowels travel to his tissues, which results in difficulty passing stool and puts him at risk of death from infection. For $1,200, we can pay for Elisante to receive an abdominoperineal pull-through with a colostomy. His doctors believe this will solve his problems with passing stool and eliminate his risk of death. This treatment will provide Elisante with more independence and give him time to focus on studying!

Clercina is a 54-year-old mother of three from Haiti. She is known for the big smile on her face, which she maintains today despite the stress she's under because of her recent breast cancer diagnosis. Clercina has had to stop working because of weakness and fatigue caused by her cancer. She says life is very difficult for her, and that even simple tasks like lifting bags of rice are difficult for Clercina. For $1500, we can fund the mastectomy and chemotherapy Clercina needs to regain her normal lifestyle. Project Medishare says that with successful treatment, Clercina should be completely cured and able to return to work and her family.

Mwajuma is a seven-month-old boy from Tanzania who has hydrocephalus, a condition that causes swelling of fluid around his brain, within an encephalocele. An encephalocele is caused by failure of the neural tube to close completely during fetal development, causing sac-like protrusions of the brain through openings in the skull. The fluid and encephalocele create pressure on the brain and put Mwajuma at risk for serious health problems and developmental delays. He is already suffering from mild blindness. African Mission Healthcare Foundation needs our help to pay for the insertion of a shunt to drain the fluid from Mwajuma's brain and a surgery to remove the encephalocele. They say that with treatment, there's a good chance Mwajuma can develop into a healthy boy. Mwajuma is his parents' first child. His father works as a day laborer but doesn't earn enough money to pay for Mwajuma's treatment, which costs $1,025. Let's fund Mwajuma's treatment so he can grow up like other kids!

Rehema is pregnant, and although she is excited, she is worried about giving birth without a medical team nearby. In her community in Kenya, complications during pregnancy are often fatal for mothers. Rehema and her husband work hard; Rehema grows maize, beans and other vegetables on her farm, and her husband earns extra money by helping on other people's farms. Lwala Community Alliance hopes to raise $215 to cover the cost of Rehema's safe delivery. With this funding, Rehema will receive expert care in a health facility and rapid access to advanced care in case of any complications, giving her and her new baby a healthy start.
