Angelica is a six-year-old girl who lives with her parents in the Philippines. Angelica is extremely skinny due to her malnutrition, but she still enjoys going outside to play with her friends. Her father works as a seasonal farmer.
Without treatment for her malnutrition, Angelica is at risk of suffering severe physical and developmental delays. Our medical partner, International Care Ministries (ICM), is therefore requesting $261 to fund Angelica’s enrollment in a home-based malnutrition intervention program, which is scheduled to begin on June 30. The program will provide Angelica with nutrient-enriched food packs, micronutrient supplements, and medications to ensure that she attains a healthy weight and achieves optimal physical and mental development. ICM staff and community volunteers will make weekly visits to monitor this child’s progress and educate the family members on proper nutrition, sanitation, hygiene, and organic vegetable gardening.
“We hope that Angelica will be healthy enough to finish her schooling so that she can become a teacher,” notes Angelica’s mother.
