Saroeun is a 58-year-old motorcycle driver from Cambodia. He has one son, one daughter, and four grandchildren. Saroeun drives his customers from their home to the vegetable market each day where they sell their produce. In his free time he likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio.
Three months ago, Saroeun developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurry vision that prevents him from driving. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Saroeun learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled to them seeking treatment to restore his sight. On April 20th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope after surgery I can drive my motorcycle for my customers well,” Saroeun said.
