Yang is 91 years old and has a daughter and eight grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks praying on the radio and join ceremonies in the pagoda in her spare time. Yang developed a cataract in eye each eye about four months ago, causing her blurred vision, irritation, and tearing. It is difficult for Yang to see things clearly, and she worries about her vision in the future.
Yang learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from her neighbor. She traveled for an hour with her grandson to reach CSC for treatment. CSC is requesting $292 for the treatment. Yang will undergo cataract surgery on April 4. After recovery, Yang will be able to see things clearly again.

Yang underwent eye surgery.
Yang’s eye cataract was successfully removed from her right eye and clear vision has been restored. Following the operation, she was given eye drops to reduce inflammation and prevent infection. She will return for the same procedure in her left eye.
Yang says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything clearly again because I want to go to the pagoda easily. The tearing and irritation has stopped. I can go anywhere outside by myself.”
