Srey Kann is six years old and in the first grade. She has four sisters. She likes to visit her grandparents’ home, play make-believe with children in her neighborhood, and learn the alphabet in her free time.
Srey Kann burned her left elbow, wrist, and fingers with boiling hot water when she was just a year old. She was treated at a provincial hospital, but her symptoms did not improve. Srey Kann has developed burn scar contractures that have tightened the skin around the burns. It is difficult for her to use her left hand and arm.
Srey Kann’s parents heard about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), from her aunt. She traveled for five hours with her mother to reach CSC for treatment.
On May 3, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform a burn scar release procedure to allow Srey Kann to use her hand and arm easily again. Our medical partner, CSC, is requesting $194 to fund her care.
