Sarorn is a 61-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia and is the youngest of three brothers and a sister. Her favorite pastime is listening to the monks pray on the radio.
One month ago, Sarorn developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her blurry vision and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Sarorn learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On March 5th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
“I hope that I will be able to see clearly again after my surgery and I can return to helping the monks prepare food at the pagoda and go anywhere I want to on my own,” Sarorn shared.

“I feel very happy about my eye surgery. It was successful and I can see everything. I can now help my family at home and help the monks at the pagoda like cleaning or making tea,” Sarorn shared.
